I don’t understand why some people have a problem with the word ace being used by asexuals to describe ourselves. It makes sense as a shortened version of the way asexual is said.

But do you know why else I like it? Because…

You said you didn’t understand why people had a problem, so I explained to you. Sure, when you’re in the asexual community you don’t see how calling yourself “aces” is a bad thing. That’s why I just explained to you, that the reason why people have an issue with it, is because the term “ace” is for better and best. There’s a very huge stress of the non-hetero-cis-sexual community wanting equality. You can’t really ask for acceptance and equality when you use a term like “ace” to describe yourselves.

Are you serious? We can’t ask to be treated with respect and acceptance and like equals because we use a word that sounds like a shortened form of our sexual orientation? A word where one of the definitions is “best”? Most people are capable of accepting that words have multiple meanings that can change and grow and not all are directly connected. Your argument is just another bullshit excuse for people to not accept asexuality as valid.

Isn’t ace like 9 times out of 10 used as something that is good or awesome rather than something that is better anyways? Like honestly when you say you aced a test or whatever it means you did really good not you did better than someone else.

I mean yeah if someone is saying that by calling ourselves ace we’re implying were better than other people that’s just people looking for excuses to not like us.
