I just had an epiphany about why a lot of racism concepts seem so weird to me. Long rambling about my city culture under the cut.

People here really hate Mennonites, like, there is a whole boat load of prejudice against them especially if they are wearing tradition clothing (head wear and dress and stuff). They’re viewed as the really sexist, anti technology, million kids type deal it’s that kind of prejudice, and the thing is most of them (around where I live anyways) have heritage from Germany and Prussia and that kind of area so basically they are all really white with mostly blonde hair and blue eyes.

And I guess being exposed to all this my whole life is why seeing how people are treated because of their race is really weird for me, because these are the kind of prejudices I have to dismantle in my head.

Realizing this is definitely going to help with me dismantling my internalized racism. Also sorry if any of this sounded offensive it wasn’t my intent just mostly going through thoughts in my own head about what I’ve been raised to believe.
