AH King AU where: Edgar is an immortal monster, like a minotaur or something, but more importantly he(or she, if you remember the convo AH had about that mid-Let’s Play) is violent and sadistic. So he has to be locked away deep underground and buried there where no one can find him and get hurt and eventually he passes out of all memory.
He stays there through all the kings’ rules. But it isn’t until the second king, Ryan, inherits the throne from a befuddled and embittered Geoff that he’s rediscovered.
Ryan determines that Edgar is dangerous and makes it his sworn duty to ensure he stays in his hole. He devotes himself to the cause until he is usurped.
A young and unwitting mercenary, Mogar, with great aspirations, is given the task of setting Edgar free, and stops at nothing to do so. Ryan, true to his vow, leaves the throne to Ray, a dapper and clever young swordsman in black and sets off to find and bring Edgar back to be imprisoned once more. For the good of the many.
Mogar, as it turns out, is a pseudonym being used by none other than Michael, the long-lost blood-heir to the throne. He reveals himself in a flurry of power and takes the crown for himself, but at a cost.
Ryan, in his efforts, was eventually poisoned by Edgar’s influence. He descended into madness and returned to the land with Edgar as his minion, laid low the fool braggart Michael for his past transgressions, but most of all for having the gall to claim Ryan’s throne for his own.
So begins a reign of terror only ended by the improbable, unanticipated slaying of Edgar at the hands of an unassuming man previously considered to be simply the court jester.
