the basics of vocal transition for trans women &/ baeddlas:
- can you make a [female orgasm] noise?
- alright you know how doing that involves tightening your vocal cords in such a way?
- put your vocal cords in that position – if you have to moan a few times to get them there, do it.
- probably alone. maybe not in public. unless you dgaf, in which case, more power to ya
- now that your cords are held in that position, start speaking. if you still end up with an orgasmic inflection, stick with it. you’re starting somewhere
- from there, just keep doing it. an hour or two every day. if you find yourself getting pony (a little hoarse), take a break, drink some water, refresh yourself. take time.
- don’t stop and never give up. we believe in you!
- so yeah once you start there, you’ll probably sound a little Monroeish, but that’s a good place to start!
- from there you can work towards finding the voice that fits and suits you best 🙂
- if you feel uncomfortable about the voice you start off with – that’s okay, I did too. it wasn’t me. that’s not my voice. but it’s a better starting point than the one I had before.
- and if you do it enough, and do it every day, you’ll begin to feel more comfortable about finding & using your voice, and you may find yourself using it more and more of the time, until you don’t use your old voice any more
- and at some point in the future (and this has happened to me), but you’ll not be able to use your old voice anymore. literally unable
- and that, that my friends is a beautiful feeling. a freeing one.
♥♥ I believe in you, and I believe you too can be where I am today ♥♥
