Province-wide protests mark day of increase in B.C. disability benefits

I live here, and this is bad.

This blow will be devastating for so many disabled individuals and families- not just financially, but in regards to morale and well-being too.

Access to public transit should be a right, especially for disabled people who often have no other method of transport. Please sign the petition here!

  • i am a disabled and mentally ill trans person who is unable to work. i have a ten year old son and an emotional support animal (cat). 
  • i am working towards getting on disability; i currently make just over $300/month in EBT cash benefits.
  • my girlfriend has been looking for but has so far been unable to find work. she also has a cat.
  • our roommates have asked us to move by october 8th. we currently have nowhere to go, and no family or friends in the area
  • i would like to keep my son in this school district, and the moving fees for out of area are exorbitant anyways so we really would like to stay in bremerton
  • we are asking for donations. unfortunately we dont have a set donation goal because we dont know yet what kind of housing we can find; we only need a 1 bedroom apartment, though two would be ideal, and costs would range from about $800-950/month
  • around $2000 would at least get us into a place and first months rent paid, with any luck we would have my disability payments and/or gf’s job worked out by that point
