I mean let’s look at the types of magic that piss off the Chantry

Magic that comes from cultures that are coded as PoC

Magic that comes from societies that have entirely different family and social structures- think of Rivain and the way they uphold female magic users, or the Avvar and the way they view commitment/polygamy/relationships

Magic that was once a gift and freely available to everyone, as the Dalish once celebrated

Magic that doesn’t come with conditions attached to it, magic from outside the Chant, from outside the Maker

That type of magic is forbidden and unnatural and a ‘derangement’ and those magic users go crazy and die young

They mass-murdered the Rivaini while at war with the Qunari just because they were ‘in the way’. COINCIDENCE.

They annulled the Rivaini Circle for no good reason whatsoever. The only thing they were guilty of is NOT locking up and abusing their mages. Apparently that was proof the Circle was beyond redemption and every man, woman, and child in it needed to die. Of course BioWare made sure it was does quietly offscreen in the background during Asunder. ALSO COINCIDENCE.
