If you’ve got any tips for surviving in heat pls send them to me
I can tell you 101 ways to handle heavy rainfall or icy roads but heat I’m literally a sticky puddle gross

Um, Eco taught me that cooling the nape of your neck helps to cool your entire system.

Cool water on the external part of your ears helps too. Lots of surface area to lose heat.

If you have a bathtub, filling it with water as cold as you can stand and soaking in there for a while helps.

Fill a pan with ice cubes and aim a fan over it. The air will be cooled by evaporation (same principle as a swamp cooler). This doesn’t work as well if it’s humid.

If you can afford to, replace as many bulbs as you can with LED bulbs. They generate less heat than fluorescent bulbs and waaaaay less than incandescent ones. Have as few lights on as possible.

Depending on what your house/apartment/dorm is made of, it may actually be cooler outside in a shady grassy area than inside your home.

If you live close to a public library, they usually have air conditioning (and free WiFi if you’re lucky) and staff generally won’t care if you stay there all day as long as you follow whatever specific rules they have.

If you can peppermint will be your best friend, mints will help you feel cool but if you can get peppermint oil and dab that on your skin it feels so nice and cool.

remember the more stuff you put in the freezer/fridge to keep cool the more heat the fridge puts out

cold drinks can have the opposite effect because your body expends energy to heat up the drink to digest it and that heats you up (I think hot drinks can cool you down but I can’t remember the science my friend told me behind it)

I’ve heard opening up cupboards and ovens and stuff can let out all the heat that’s stored up in them but I’ve tried that and haven’t noticed a big difference but in theory it should work
