In our ongoing effort to help you all determine your own experience here on Tumblr, we’re launching one of our most requested features: the ability to filter out posts from your dashboard based on their tags.
Trying to avoid #Star Wars spoilers? Filter them out. Need a break from all the #holiday excitement this month? Sheesh, fine. Filter it out. It’s your dashboard. Groom it well.
Where do I set up a tag filter?
In your settings! You’ll find it in your general settings on mobile, under “Filtering.” On the web, you’ll find it in your account settings, also under “Filtering.”
That makes sense. Will I know when stuff is being filtered out?
Yup. Just like with Safe Mode, you’ll see a placeholder in your dashboard wherever something is being hidden. If you actually do want to see it, you can click/tap on it, and it’ll appear.
I follow some real nimrods. How can I stop seeing their posts?
Unfollow them! And if they’re really being a jerk, block them. And if they’re truly being hateful, report them.

One thing to note: As its name implies, tag filtering relies on a post’s tags to tell it what’s what. It can’t filter based on the full text used in a post, or sense subtle references or sarcasm. So be a good neighbor and tag accurately and often. 🏷

Mounted police are used in a number of countries for many reasons. They aren’t as common, but often a horse can get across rugged terrain much more efficiently than a car. So they keep mounted units because they are useful in unique ways.
Patrolling a mostly-wilderness type area where they act as a deterrent for trespassers and criminal activity seems like a perfectly reasonable thing for a Mountie to be doing.
Um RCMP: Royal Canadian Mounted Police. That’s 90% of Canada’s police force, those are mounties they just don’t wear the uniform all the time because it’s a formal uniform but those are literally mounties.
I occasionally try googling my symptoms if I think of another way of wording it or just to see if anything new pops up but it’s so disheartening.

I can barely get doctors to listen to me too and since I’m in between provinces rn my health care is all messed up and I hate it.
I was looking up wheelchairs today because I can’t even go out for a day anymore without serious pain. I am rapidly losing use of my legs and I feel like no one is taking me seriously and I’m not going to get better.

Like I mean we have organs in our bodies that we don’t know what they do what if they are like magic containers or something that we forgot how to use?
Maybe our universe is unusually cut off from other parallel ones so using magic is more difficult.
Like we have so many stories that include stuff about magic or some form of it. We have the force, we have nen, we have witchcraft and mages and druids but actually trying to use it is so difficult and convoluted that it doesn’t feel right.
And I know I’m rambling and not very coherent but no one talks about this and I want to know what happened here that severed our connection with magic

hey!! sorry to hijack this post, but there are a bunch of ways you can make videogames without knowing shit about computers!!
for starters, there’s Twine, which is fucking great for making all kinds of interactive experiences (it’s what Crystal Warrior Ke$ha was made in so you KNOW it’s good) at all skill levels (i picked it up and made a game in two minutes a few nights ago)
if you want a bit more involved experience there’s Inform 7 which is a simple language for text-based adventure games that reads like slightly-weird English and also relatively easy to learn
you can do some pretty fucking cool stuff with Unity (my personal engine of choice) but you may need to dig a bit farther to get at the good stuff. there’s lots of really good presets though (i made an entire game just mixing and matching pre-existing templates and adding in my own art, won an award at a game jam for that one) and if you want help the community’s pretty dang friendly from what i’ve seen!
this is just a taste of what’s out there from what i’ve seen, but there’s so many cool resources out there. if anyone wants help getting started, i’m around to give you a leg up on making something in the coolest, most unexplored art medium around!

2D Editors:
GameMaker : Potential for pure drag-and-drop “programming”. It is recommended to read-up on the program’s functions to make good use of it. Good for prototyping. Uses its own language called Game Maker Language (GML) that is similar to a C language (e.g. C++ or C#). For both Mac and PC; free version available.
Construct2 : Drag and drop level editor that uses an “If-Then” event sheet structure for programming. Good for prototyping and for beginners. For PC; free version available.
GameSalad : Drag and drop with no code requirement. Good for programming. For both Mac and PC; free version available.
Solpeo : HTML5 based game engine for 2D and isometric game development. Some programming knowledge needed. Platforms supported: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer 9+. Free version available.
Stencyl : Drag and Drop “programming,” templates you can edit the variables/values for.
Scratch : Lego-block-style coding platform by MIT; totally free and a great intro to thinking in code. Very kid-friendly and comes with a community site. Browser version available.
3D Editors:
Unity : 3D editor that creates 3D games. Can build games for browser, as an app, or for mobile devices (iOS and Android). For both Mac and PC; free version available.
UDK (Unreal Development Kit) : Full-fledged, highly advanced editor. Features a complete set of tools that go from level design to visual scripting to cut-scene creation. Uses it’s own programming language called Unreal Script that can be arranged with Kismet, a visual code editor. For Mac and PC; free.
2D Art/Animation Software:
GIMP : Free photo editing and digital painting software.
Easy Paint Tool SAI : Free digital painting software with a UI similar to Photoshop.
Mischief : Free digital painting software with an endless canvas.
3D Art/Animation Software:
Sculptris : From the company that created Zbrush, this free software is ideal for beginning 3D sculptors.
Maya : Animation, VFX, lighting, and rendering software.
Magical Voxel : Voxel Art (3D Pixel Art). Very intuitive and quick to pick up.
SketchUp : Architectural modeling software, great for creating 3D environments and buildings. Free version available.
Text-Based Games:
Twine : Create interactive text stories using Twine’s visual map system that links your game together. Easy to learn and use. End result is browser-based. For Mac and PC; free.
Quest : Interactive text stories that you can build in-browser.
Ren’Py : Create visual novels using a modified version of Python that reads like a combination of stage directions and a CYOA novel. For PC, Mac, and Linux; free.
Audio Resources/Editors:
Indie Game Music : This site offers free indie music with no need to worry about royalties or licenses.
Audacity : A free, open-source, cross-platform sound editor that allows you to record and arrange sound.
Super Flash Bros. : This site allows you to record theremin-like (8bit) sounds and export them as .wav files for your games.
I’ve seen a lot of hate recently on certain words used by the aromantic community to describe their experiences, so I feel that some clarification needs to be made.
The term aplatonic does not mean someone who doesn’t want friends. It does not mean someone who doesn’t have friends, or someone who is antisocial. It is not ‘uwu I don’t have any friends I’m so queeeeeer’. No, stop spreading that information. Aplatonic is simply a descriptor used by some aro people to explain that they do not experience squishes nor desire to be in qpps/qprs. (Squishes are essentially friend-crushes, it’s the aromantic equivalent of a crush, except there is not romantic attraction involved. QPRs or QPPs are queer/quasi platonic partnerships/relationships: essentially non-romantic domestic life partners)
Because of the confusing way these are often explained and because of the -platonic suffix, people unfamiliar with these terms automatically jump to “so friends?” Lemme stop you right there buddy. No, people in qpps are not ‘just friends’. It is a term used to essentially describe non-romantic life partners. People in qps sometimes live together, get married, raise children together, etc. It is not ‘just being best friends’. It is not trying to make friendships seem unimportant or secondary.
Many aro people do desire to be in long term relationships. They still do not experience romantic attraction (hence being aromantic). Many aro people experience squishes. However, many do not. In order to simplify this, the word aplatonic was created so that people who do not experience this can more accurately describe their experiences in the aro community with as few words as possible. There’s a lot of focus in the aro community on having qpp/qprs, so there was absolutely a necessity for this word.
Aplatonic is a word also often used by neurodivergent aroaces who struggle with forming relationships of any kind with people, and tumblr’s quick jump to make fun of it is frankly kind of ableist.
That one post that was being spread around where the anon was asking if aplatonic people are LGBT+ was not someone asking if people who don’t want friends are LGBT+. Rather it was asking if an aroace person is in a domestic partnership with someone of the same gender as them, and they are considered LGBT+, shouldn’t all aromantic asexuals be considered LGBT+ as well because their attraction(s) are the same? (And yes, I know that in that case the partners would be seen as gay from society, even though they are aroace, but I digress) At least that was my interpretation of the ask.
The -platonic suffix is not meant to be used like the -romantic and -sexual suffixes used in the ace/aro split attraction model. The whole discourse honestly has confused a lot of people about what the split attraction model is and it’s really irking me. People gotta stop acting like 100% cis straight people are going to suddenly start identifying as aplatonic. It’s specifically an aro word to describe the ways in which aro people experience attraction. It is not an identity by itself, no one is claiming it to be. It is a descriptor of aromanticism. Anyway, people outside of the aro community need to stop policing aro words and stop taking the parts that make up a word at face value.
